  1. Wow...BIG LUMP IN MY THROAT!!!! Ok, you can do all the pictures you want, but you better be bringing that cute little baby home because I want to adopt him. What a doll. And what a new life you just open up for him, and he doesn't even know it and really never will until his family explains to him that a doctor from America came over, volunteer his time to do a surgery on him when he was just a little tyke. Your awesome dude, it would be an honor to be a scrub tech with you over there, and maybe do some eye stuff too:))

You just keep party rockin it over there and saving the world, one surgery at a time. Oh, and get home soon dude, I am missin you. Need some good mono y mono chats with my brotha from anutha mutha.

So proud my friend, God has blessed you more then I or you will know and he will continue to do that as you continue to be hands and feet for HIM.

Bill Hamilton should be proud, you are your own Fix it for HIM

    Until later

  2. Hey man! My Friday is over and you are still slogging away at the office! I like the sound of that! Fortunately that little boy has two parents who love him and care for him quite well. But there are many children here that are orphaned or receive less than optimal care and nourishment. I'm a little fearful to bring Jen here because it's not whether we would come home with another child, it is how many!!

We had a good day here. Saw many folks. All postoperative pts are doing well, though I don't know how to gauge the ortho pts! I found scads and scads of donated glasses here in large ziplock baggies in the radiology storage room. There is a great kid here that does "eye exams" once a week by seating ptsq in a chair and having them read an eye chart about 10 ft away and asking them to read it. He speaks very good English and would soak up your knowledge like a sponge. Just thinkin...

God is good, everyday, all of the time. I miss you as well, my friend, and it will be sweet to return and talk and laugh. I believe I owe you lunch this time... I've picked up some great recipes with rice and "sauce!". You and your family are in my prayers. Matty

  3. Oh my friend, you don't know how much I would love to come over and help your "kiddo" learn how to do exams. Maybe we could get a phoropter and I can teach him the "which is better, 1 or 2" and then bring over a lensometer so he can check glasses, then we can send all our donated glasses over there, he can check there prescriptions, then do a quick refraction, and at least get people into some glasses. Disease would be a little more difficult to teach, due to the depth and scope of it, and the lack of antibiotics and steroids, but what an experience that would be.

I have a feeling I would spend most of my day in tears as all the people flowed in and where smiling, and singing praises with so little. Plus, I don't think constant tears and sand in the air could be good for the eyes.

We will certainly have to talk the next time you plan on going and see if I can work something out. Find a mobile phoropter like what dr. Ogden has and then just leave it over there for them.

Love you bro, your in my prayers always

  4. You would definitely be a sweaty, dusty mess, but a happy mess at that! They can get any drug, eye drop, etc from a pharmacy in Holland without any trouble. If you let them know in advance what you need, they will get it. The phoropter is a matter of prayer, but if we can get one, we could add it to a crate that is already coming over and have it delivered prior to your arrival. Well, I guess I got rid of all of the excuses you might have not to come... All you need now is airline tickets and a box of tissues as you fight back tears all day long as you help people see again. It will be fun to talk soon... Matty

  5. Alright, lets just do it, I don't know if I can do a whole month though, thats not probably going to work. But maybe two weeks, which is really only one week of work with all the travel and stuff. Someday bro, someday...
