Safe, at last, at Hope

We have been outside of cell phone and Internet service for the last 48 hours, but have been safe. We survived the treacherous roads to Hope today, chaeuffered skillfully by Caleb Sellars, who is a Bible translator in the nearby city of Lola. The Lord was gracious, as Kel awoke with a nasty GI bug this am that had him down for the entire day without eating... No joking! He is feeling better this pm and was able to eat a little bit without nausea. We had a great time with the Anderson's, who have twin boys who are in the same class as Con. These guys were excellent hosts and took Con and Kel mudding, bird hunting, and even played some softball in the swamp. We had dinner tonight with the Albright's, said hello to a few friends from last visit, and the boys collapsed into bed after Skyping their Mom, briefly. I was able to catch up with Jen for a good while, which restored both of our souls. Tomorrow, I hope to start in the clinic with Dr. Jean, as well as in the OR, and be as helpful as possible in the transition process as he plans for his month of vacation. Thank you for all of your notes and prayers. We are all anxious to see what God has in store for us here at Hope over the course of the next few days.

  1. So glad you guys are safe and on target. Have received Con and Kel's FB pages. Sounds like they had an exciting time with the twins. Dad spent some time in your office this am. Got a cute between thumb and forefinger - Paul stitched him up. He bandaged his hand so that it looks like it was half cut off but he is doing okay. They were taking something off the top of Merle's truck and it slipped and caught him. Can't wait to hear what God has prepared for all of you tomorrow. Sorry Kel was sick. Were the roads worse than in Jan? Did you get your luggage? Well, time to make supper. Love and miss you all. Praying!!!!

    1. Kel is much better today. Con was sick last pm and all day today, but is upright and eating a little tonight. I had a fun day in the OR w Dr. Jean--Kel got to watch some of the case as well. Sorry to hear about Gpa and his cut-- the bandage on his hand is usually proportional to the bill he will receive! The roads were far worse than my last trip. Haven't heard anything about my bag. We just had dinner with Jairus and his family this pm which was great. The boys are doing well, now that they are feeling better. Thanks for your prayers!

    1. We have already seen God's awesomeness in that the boys' illnesses have been limited to 24 hrs. They are both upright again and jumping into duties here at the clinic. Thanks for your prayers. Hope you guys are well. Say HI to the kids and Scott for us. Love ya, Jeff

  3. It's Wed. night here and it's so good to read about your trip so far. Sorry about the guys being sick, but glad it was short lived. Praying they regain strength quickly to they can enjoy their time there to the fullest. What a wonderful opportunity you have to serve the Lord together. I know all three of you will be a blessing to others and in turn will be blessed just for going. I'm so excited all three of you!

We got back home late last night after several flight delays at O'Hare because of a bad storm early Tues a.m. We had three gate changes, two plane changes due to maintenance issues and actually got out of there about 4 hrs. later than expected. Just glad the plane they finally used got us home safely. :)

We had a great trip, visiting family and friends. Aunt Sue had a surprise for me with uncles, aunts and cousins coming to her house to visit with us, some we haven't seen in 22 years! During our travels we also got to meet 7 babies/children of our neices and nephews for the first time...Jamie's, Joy's, Michaels, and Michelle's. Don and Sally spent 4 days at BL with us and we had Gene and Kathy for dinner and they had us for dinner and Rick and Amy had us for dinner and dessert with Glen and Janie. And too many trips to the Windmill to count! A whole lot of eating and no time to be lonely. We are so thankful for good health and safe travels!

We are praying every day for you and love you all very much!

    1. Sounds like a great trip for you guys, despite the musical planes game on the way home. Rough night of sleep here due to loud music blaring all night-- thank goodness for headphones... Hoping the guys slept thru it better than I did. It will be fun to have some days to serve when all of us are healthy and moving full speed. The guys seem to be enjoying their time despite illness. The Lord has much in store for us, and it will be exciting to watch it unfold. Thanks for your prayers, and glad you are safe at home.
      Love ya both, Jeff
